I have posted up some recent photos of a restoration process on the famed “Fisher FM-1000” stereo tuner. Take a look at the gallery. I will add notes and comments soon to each photo. This way you can follow me through the process and get an idea of what really goes into a rebuild. More phots of the finished project will be posted soon. Feel free to ask questions. This tuner when complete will be up for sale.. Dr. “Tubeology”
- Buzzzzzzzzzz is right
- Why does my amp sound bad, maybe even no sound at all or smoke!
- Another infamous cap “Black Beauty”
- No its not making honey, but its making audio distortions
- This is a new (never used) “Black Beauty” I have dozens of them, they can command a high prices on Ebay.. but look at the test results!
- Here we have the pictured “Black Beauty” NOS under test. Look at the leakage in micro amps 51.4 ! that is one hell of a leaker..I would never put that in any of my circuits..
- This is well suited for a new project we are now developing. Yes, a project that will be offered as a new limited production audio component..More on “the Project” soon
- You can bet this will get a lot of use. These have very precise vacuum tube voltage regulation, it is so clean that I cannot get any readings on my Tek scope on power supply noise!
