Under test of the “Nasty” leaking Bumblebee’s

“Click” on the picture for close up and narrative about this test

This is a recent photo showing under test a “Bumblebee” cap removed from a McIntosh c20 pre-amplifier. There are at least 40 of this type of cap in the C20, As for those that say I want the “classic” sound unmodified. I call foul!..with this type of leakage going on the unit is performing poorly frequency response, noise and phase shift are just some of the issues. Let alone DC leaking into the actual gain stage the normally negative grid voltage is in many cases going positive!..a bad thing..Now when re-capping with quality Mylars or Teflons the improvement in sound is amazing!
